Our festival is officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This means we exist to serve a charitable purpose, and any money we receive goes directly toward supporting our mission—such as bringing live bluegrass and folk music to our community, supporting local artists, and keeping our event accessible to everyone.

People often ask what the difference is between a donation and a sponsorship. Here’s a simple explanation:

Donations

• A donation is a gift made to support our mission.

• You are not receiving anything of value in return.

• Since you are not getting goods or services, donations are generally fully tax-deductible.

• Examples: giving money online, mailing a check, or contributing to support our programs.

Sponsorships

• A sponsorship is financial support in exchange for recognition, such as having your business name displayed on our website, banners, or program materials.

• Because the sponsor receives something of value—advertising or public acknowledgment—only part of the sponsorship may be tax-deductible.

• Sponsors will receive a receipt that explains what portion, if any, is deductible.

• Basically, if you want your logo on everything, that would be a sponsorship.
