Murfreesboro, Tennessee is gearing up for an exciting venture as we introduce a brand new folk and bluegrass festival to the music community.  The inaugural Gallagher Fest will be on Saturday, May 4th.  This event is not just about music; it’s a celebration of coming together, reconnecting with our roots, and bringing back a roots music festival.  Given our town's rich history of hosting music festivals and the decision to reintroduce this event in the heart of downtown Murfreesboro, it feels like a harmonious return to form.

In the spirit of music and community, the street festival is open to the public.  We will have four instrument contests: fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and flatpicking guitar.  The contests will offer cash awards for the fiddle and mandolin contests.  Gold Tone will be providing their new 24 fret Mastertone banjo, the OB-3EF, as the prize for the Banjo Contest.  Gallagher Guitar Co. will be providing a Gallagher G-50 as the prize guitar for the Flatpicking Contest. Eastman will be providing a mandolin for first prize in the mandolin contest. Krutz Instruments will be providing a 600 Series Violin Model V460 for the fiddle contest first prize.

There will also be indoor activities during the day: Don Gallagher and David Tipton will provide an account of the early days of Gallagher Guitar Co.  Jim Hurst will offer a guitar workshop.  Chris Jones and Scott Heuston will offer a song-writing workshop.

On Friday evening, May 3rd, there will be an open jam to kick off the weekend of music. Join us in making history and creating a legacy that celebrates the essence of community and music.
